Colorado's Most Awarded
Arapahoe Credit Union is the not-for-profit version of a bank. We do everything they do, but we do it for the community and our members/ owners. We do not pay investors, we do not give huge corporate salaries and we do not make risky decisions with other people’s money. This allows us to provide our services for far less and be focused on true service.
ACU has been awarded seven Best of the Best awards in 2025!
For eleven years in a row, Arapahoe CU has been acknowledged among the best credit unions in the state!
Thank you to the Colorado Community. We're proud to be awarded top credit union/bank in Centennial, Englewood, Littleton, Lone Tree, Lakewood, Castle Pines, and Highlands Ranch!
Being not-for-profit is critical to how ACU operates. Having no corporate shareholders allows us to operate in a democratic fashion. Our Board of Directors are elected volunteers who work alongside the Executive Team to guide the credit union with a focus on the ethical stewardship of our members' resources. The teams help manage services, working to provide the tools and support most beneficial to the lives of our collective membership.
Be a Leader
ACU is comprised of fellow residents, neighbors, friends, and community partners. Our Board of Directors is made up of everyday people who volunteer their time to represent our community and guide the credit union in its mission.
You do not need to have any specific background or financial expertise. That's what the Executive Team provides. We are seeking volunteers that are representative of the community. Diversity and perspective are the primary attributes we seek.
If you’re ready to give back and help strengthen the Colorado community, consider applying!

Arapahoe CU carries the tools to bank globally, but our impact is concentrated here in the Denver Metro Area where we have served with a standout reputation as Colorado’s Most Awarded Bank or Credit Union.
Serving Locally
Arapahoe CU is among Colorado's oldest credit unions, having been founded in 1937. Originally the county's credit union for local educators, ACU has evolved to serve the entire community. We have a particularly strong presence with medical workers, local organizations, and, of course, we continue to be dedicated to everyone in educational services. We currently have over 10,000 members in the local area and continue to support their financial goals through continual enhancements of our financial tools/ services.
Serving Globally
Small and local, not limited. ACU has multiple ways to provide comprehensive banking services to our members. Technology, of course, allows for full, real-time account management from anywhere with an internet connection. We additionally take a cooperative approach with other credit unions. Along with our two local branches, ACU members can generally do their banking from any shared branch location or take advantage of a network of over 30,000 ATMs.
"Great place. I have a few other credit union accounts, but since joining I have gradually moved all of my loans here to save money." - Chris M.
