Community Support for Food Insecurity

Arapahoe CU is a community institution; our focus will always be on Colorado and its residents. This year, our staff has started to pay specific attention to the issue of food and resource insecurity in the area. As such, while we aren't the largest institution, we would like to use what resources we have to help our neighbors during this winter season.

Below are resources that you or someone you know may need. First, we have a local locator for living resources including food banks and shelters. Second, ACU will be collecting non-perishable food donations at each of our branch locations. Third, we have two local organizations that can be a resource or certainly worth your time or monetary donations.

To start, times can be tight for almost anyone. We also know that many people are going to be particularly impacted by the government shutdown and the uncertainty surrounding SNAP.

Below, we have options for our members to contribute to those in need. However, if you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please glance at the 211 Colorado site linked here. This provides a resource and benefit finder that can help you find the help you need.

ACU Will Collect Non-Perishables!

ACU will be collecting unopened, sealed, and non-expired items at both of our branch locations. Each month, we will deliver these items to Nourish, a local food service located between our Englewood and Centennial lobbies.

Some Items to Consider:
• Canned goods • Noodles and Rice • Popcorn • Tuna and Hamburger Helpers • Tomato Sauce • Spaghetti • Peanut Butter • Jelly • Instant Potatoes • Hot Chocolate/ Apple Cider Packets • Breakfast Bars • Canned Tuna/ Chicken • Oatmeal Packets • Non-Sugared Cereal • Hearty Soups • Macaroni ‘and Cheese • Pancake Mixes • Snack Crackers • Cookie, Chip, and Nut Packs • Toilet Paper and Tissues

Nourish Meals on Wheels

Nourish is a local non-profit that delivers easy-to-prepare meals to local residents over the age of 60. As an organization, they have provided 55 years of support. In 2024, they delivered 231,000 meals to Colorado. If you are considering an organization for your monetary donations or a place to volunteer, they are worth considering. Food Bank of the Rockies

Food Bank of the Rockies is a staple of the local community. They offer mobile food pantries and rotating schedules to allow wide access to needed resources. Visiting their site, linked here, will give you access to resource locators, volunteer opportunities, and a convenient way to make monetary donations.

Live Your Lifestyle
